Jun 11, Kathmandu - Authorities in Sunsari District have confiscated illegal goods worth over NPR 610,000 that were smuggled across borders, according to police officials. The crackdown was part of a special operation carried out by multiple police units on Wednesday and Thursday.

A combined team from the District Police Office and various units intercepted and seized the contraband, which includes clothing, grocery items, and related materials, police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chandra Bahadur Khadka reported.

The seized items, valued at NPR 610,114, were intercepted from six different locations within the district. Among the highlights:

• Clothing worth NPR 427,000 from Inaruwa-1
• Goods worth NPR 105,000 from Barju-4
• Items valued at NPR 30,910 from Ramdhuni Municipality-5
• Merchandise worth NPR 30,000 from Inaruwa-6
• Valuables of NPR 10,697 from Duhabi-3
• Goods worth NPR 10,500 from Koshi-5

Additionally, police confiscated a motorcycle used for transporting the smuggled items. The seized goods have been handed over to the Sunsari Customs Office for legal proceedings.

Police officials, including Deputy Superintendent Keshav Kumar Thabe, emphasized that increased vigilance and proactive measures are being taken to curb illegal border crossings and smuggling activities in the region.
