Law Ministry Asks All Secretaries for List of Bills

Jun 11, Kathmandu - The Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs has requested all secretaries from various ministries to submit a list of bills intended for submission to the federal parliament by the end of Asadha to meet the parliamentary deadline. The ministry has also begun discussions with secretaries regarding the bills to be presented.

“Currently, we are in discussions with ministries to prepare a prioritized list of bills to be sent to the federal parliament by the Asadha deadline,” said Law Secretary Parashwar Dhungana. “All secretaries have been instructed to send their bill lists soon.”

On Thursday, (Jestha 28), Law Minister Sobita Gautam held discussions with Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration Prativa Rijal, along with Secretary Madan Bhujel. The ministry is also consulting with Minister of Women, Children, Gender, Sexual Minorities, and Social Security Sita Wadi and Secretary Radhika Aryal regarding the bill preparations.

The Ministry plans to brief these ministers and secretaries on the status of bill preparations, as it is mandated to submit a prioritized list of bills annually before Asadha. This list forms part of the government’s annual legislative schedule, which must be submitted to the Law Ministry.

Once the list of bills from the respective ministries is received, preparations are underway to submit the bills to parliament by the end of Asadha, Dhungana added.
