May 01, Kathmandu - The United States is reportedly contemplating the deployment of a hypersonic missile in its potential military actions against Iran for the first time.
According to sources, the Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) presented various options for an attack on Iran to President Donald Trump, including the possibility of using a hypersonic missile.
Fox News reported that Admiral Brad Cooper, CENTCOM Commander, discussed these options with Trump in the White House Situation Room. During the meeting, he mentioned the capability to launch a "small but extremely powerful" strike.
The report suggests that such an attack could target Iran's remaining military infrastructure, leadership, and critical facilities.
The US Department of Defense is also exploring the use of advanced weapons, including the hypersonic missile named 'Dark Eagle.' This missile, with a range of nearly 2,000 miles (approximately 3,200 kilometers), could potentially target Iran's remaining ballistic missile launchers.
Meanwhile, the US has increased the deployment of B-1B Lancer bombers in the Middle East, which are capable of carrying a large payload of hypersonic missiles and other heavy weaponry.
