Rabi Lamichhane-Gyanendra Shahi meeting: Strategic discussion before the Deputy Speaker election

Apr 04, Kathmandu - Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi held a meeting today.

The conversation lasted for about an hour at Rabi's private residence. This meeting between the two leaders is considered meaningful as the election for the vacant Deputy Speaker post of the House of Representatives is approaching. It is understood that the main agenda of the meeting focused on possible collaboration for the Deputy Speaker post and a common strategy within the parliament. The RSP has already elected DP Aryal as the Speaker. According to the constitutional provisions, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker should be from different parties and genders. This is why the RSP has to collaborate with parties outside the ruling party.
